Comb the long silky coat every day, reaching behind ears and beneath the legs; discuss a manageable companion trim with an experienced groomer.
Challenges to plan for
Small size can encourage carrying everywhere, but confidence needs safe independent exploration. Mats and difficult grooming are preventable with patient early handling.
How does it compare?
The Maltese is another small silky-coated companion, but the Havanese comes in a wider range of colours; coat care remains central to both.

Can you demonstrate combing to the skin? How do your Havanese adults cope with ordinary absences, and what health checks and puppy handling have been recorded?
