The Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen suits someone ready for an active, long-bodied rough hound. It is the tallest of the Basset breeds.
Daily time commitment
RKC recommends more than two hours of daily adult exercise. Leave additional time for coat inspection and daily grooming after adventures.
Coat and everyday care
Check the rough coat daily, especially ears and furnishings. Preserve its natural rustic character while preventing uncomfortable tangles and embedded debris.
Challenges to plan for
Long ears and coat collect vegetation while the nose follows trails. Safe containment and cooperative grooming need early practice.
How does it compare?
The Petit is smaller with more moderate proportions. The Grand is not simply a heavier puppy version, so compare mature dogs.

Can you show an adult grooming session and a normal exercise day? Ask about the parents' health, voice and experience living outside a hunting kennel.
