Chindo Jindo Jindo Gae JindoGae Jin dog Jindo Gu

Who is this breed suited to?

A Jindo is best considered by an experienced owner who can manage a hunting-and-guarding spitz and assess compatibility with other animals.

Daily time commitment

RKC suggests up to an hour of adult exercise; reserve further time for patient lead work and confidence in ordinary surroundings.

Coat and everyday care

Brush the medium double coat several times a week and increase attention during shedding; introduce feet and body examination gradually.

Challenges to plan for

Do not assume unfamiliar dogs or small pets will be accepted. Secure containment and careful introductions are more useful than claims of unquestioning loyalty.

How does it compare?

The Shiba Inu is another Asian spitz comparison, but the Jindo has its own island history and larger frame; assess individual temperament carefully.

Questions to ask a breeder

How do your adult Jindos behave with unfamiliar dogs and people? Describe containment needs, documented health checks and the puppies' experiences beyond home.
