Who is this breed suited to?
The Clumber suits someone interested in a substantial spaniel and able to accommodate its mature size, coat care and purposeful outdoor activity.
Daily time commitment
RKC gives up to an hour of adult exercise daily. Add searching games and training, matching terrain and pace to the individual.
Coat and everyday care
Groom the medium coat several times weekly and inspect ear and leg furnishings after outings. Teach calm care before the puppy becomes heavy.
Challenges to plan for
A heavy-set outline should still permit comfortable activity. Assess adult movement and documented health rather than interpreting solidity as an advantage by itself.
How does it compare?
The English Cocker offers a smaller spaniel comparison. The Clumber requires different lifting, transport and space arrangements even with similar interests in searching.
Questions to ask a breeder
Can I review current breed-recommended health tests, including the parents' EIC information? Ask about everyday movement, grooming and puppy socialisation.
