More than 2,000 years ago, a new breed of fluffy dogs were bred in ancient China, which was called Pekinese. This breed owes its name to its capital Beijing. In ancient legends, they were often called the pearls, sundogs, and sweet lotus flowers or lion dogs. However, modern Chinese mention them as Fu dogs.

Pekinese, Japanese Chin dogs and pug-dogs probably originate from an ancient breed - flat-snouted Toys that lived in large quantities in the Far East. Toy ogs got immense popularity in the VIII century, during the reign of the Tang Dynasty. Since that time, the dogs began to appear consistently in the literature and the art of China. For several centuries, the Pekinese lived only in palaces and homes of the nobles, where a formation of the breed took place. In 1860, the British army took the Imperial Palace in Beijing by assault, found five Pekinese dogs, which with great care were taken to London. Therefore, members of this wonderful breed appeared in Europe.
In 1891, several dog clubs officially recognized the breed, and it was allowed to participate in international dog competitions. It is noteworthy, in China, Pekinese after 1911 have almost disappeared, and those individuals that are kept among Chinese breeders now have a European origin.

Pekinese dogs have a sensitive and unobtrusive character. These dogs will be happy to take part in games, showing great fun. On the other hand, if a person needs rest, then they for hours can be calm. Showing leniency and goodwill to people, Pekinese dogs are foolhardy in the presence of other dogs. These little lions get on well with children, but need kindness and respect on their part.

Care of the breed is the same as for the majority of the longhaired breeds. Its hair should be very carefully combed and brushed. Comb its hair on the body with a rigid covering brush, and behind the ears with a special comb with a few teeth. Wash Pekinese dogs rarely. For more frequent cleaning of a pet dry shampoo is used. Eyes are cleaned with damp cotton swabs. Ears and fold over the nose are wiped with dry swabs. The hair between its fingers must be cut out and do the edging of paws in such a way that the nails are not visible.
